The Jallen: Our Homewrecker Cheese Burger

The Burger That Started a Cheese Company

Eight years ago, a homesick American walked into the Fox & Vivian with a tub of homemade cheese and a simple request: put this on my burger. Jane Davis had grown up on pimento cheese in Savannah, Georgia, and after moving to Leamington Spa with her husband Allen, she couldn't find it anywhere in the UK — not in a single supermarket, not on a single menu. So she made her own batch, brought it to our chef Matt, and asked him to try it. It was on the menu the next day. It's never left. We named the burger after the two of them — The Jallen, for Jane and Allen. What started as one customer's craving has since become Homewrecker Pimento Cheese: a Great Taste Award winner now sold in Ocado stores across the country. But the burger where it all began is still only ever cooked in one kitchen: ours.
